Over the last several months the leadership team of Huron Shores Fellowship with support from the Strategic Ministry Planning team, has intentionally taken time to prayerfully and carefully seek the Lord for the direction of our church. The Servants Team met last week and provides this update to the congregation on several topics:

As was announced last month, The Servants Team made a decision to form a Pastor Search Team. Many people submitted their names for consideration to be on the Pastoral Search Team, more than the 7-9 called for in our Bylaws. The Servants Team gave prayerful and thoughtful consideration to the names that were submitted. We then selected and affirmed a team of 9 people. We are now in the process of contacting those people to confirm their commitment. Once we hear back from those selected, we will announce the team to the congregation.

The second action we took was to form a Governance Structure Committee. We have heard from many members over the last several months that our current leadership model is not working and is ineffective. We took those comments seriously and have formed a committee to review and modify our bylaws to be more relevant to support our efforts to make followers of Jesus Christ. We are in the process of contacting member to confirm their commitment to this Governance Structure Committee. It is our hope to present new bylaws to the congregation for a vote at the Annual Meeting in late September or early October.

The third action, based on recommendation from the finance team, is to look at the role and function of the interim pastor position; we will be spending the next 30 days reviewing our commitment to this role and will have a discussion at the next Servants Team meeting on how this role could be modified.

The fourth action was to set a date for the next Congregational Meeting where we will have Ministry Team updates and more information regarding the Pastoral Search and Governance Committees. That Congregational meeting will take place on Sunday, August 2nd, right after the Worship Service.

Please continue to be in prayer as God prepares the heart for someone to be our new pastor, pray for the Pastoral Search Team, and the Servants Team, and for the journey that lies ahead of us.
