The Second Sunday of Advent

“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The Lord Our Righteousness.”
Jeremiah 23:5-6

These are days to celebrate the promises of God.
Long ago, the prophets spoke of a coming day –
a day when God would send a Savior, a Comforter, a King.
With the birth of Jesus, God kept this most important promise –
and that is what we celebrate today!

Welcome to Huron Shores Fellowship!
We are glad that you are here.

CHRISTMAS PROJECT
We are collecting items for the Women’s Shelter for Christmas. The following are what we are collecting. Other than hats and gloves that can be new or gently used, everything else must be new such as toiletries, make up, hair spray, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, etc….individually wrapped candy or candy bars for stockings, socks and underwear. There is a tub in the hallway that is labeled.

WE NEED ONE MORE PERSON
We need one more person on the Finance Team and would be expected to take a turn on counting the collection. See Peg Chatfield

GIDEON COOKIE BOXES
The Alpena Gideon Camp will be providing Christmas Gift boxes for inmates at the local county jails and would like to have you participate. They will be putting them together, Monday, December 21, 9am at Word of Life Church so all cookies would need to be marked for the Gideon’s and either dropped off at Word of Life Church by Sunday, December 20th or at Kip Burke’s office (3508 M 32 W, next door) by Friday December 18th. We ask that the cookies not have anything gooey on them as they make a mess for packing (unless they’re individually wrapped). – Kip Burke for the Alpena Area Gideon Camp

– Also, we are planning a Christmas Eve service. Becky Sommerfield will be in charge of organizing that service.
– And last but not least, the Family Hymn Sing is being postponed until after the New Year due to the busy holidays.

PRAYER REQUESTS – “PRAYER CHAIN”
There are times when we have all needed immediate prayer for our family, loved ones and friends. Huron Shores Fellowship now has a PRAYER CHAIN to help in those circumstances. If you would like to request prayer, please contact Becky Sommerfield at 517-481-6720 and she will pass it on to the prayer chain.

THANK YOU
We appreciate the many calls, cards, flowers and visits given with care and love during Mom’s illness. These kindnesses were in addition to the many prayers offered on her behalf during the progression of her illness. Now no longer ill, we are confident that Mom is at peace abiding with our Savior. Thank you for ministering to Mom as well as both of us during her journey to her eternal home.
May you be blessed as you have blessed us,
Sandy and Sid Rhind and family of Joyce Gebben
