TIME OF DEDICATION

Children are a gift from God. As a community of faith, we today express our gratitude to God for children. We commit to love and teach all the children that God has placed in our care. And we challenge these parents today to commit themselves to the highest standards of love. We also promise to provide support, encouragement, education, and prayer.

Children being dedicated today:

Caleb Alan MacArthur, born December 30, 2016
Parents: Adrian and Angie MacArthur

Nora Drew MacArthur, born February 6, 2017
Parents: A.J. and Amy MacArthur

Words of Thanksgiving and Dedication
Pastor to parents: Love is kind; love is not envious or arrogant or rude. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. These words from the Apostle Paul describe every good relationship – but especially the desired relationship of parents and children. Today, we invite you to commit yourselves to your child and to God.

Parents, will you commit yourselves today to be the parents that God would have you be? Will you strive to love your children? Will you encourage them to learn and grow? Will you treat them with respect? Will you give them the opportunity to learn about and walk with God? Will you help their faith grow? Will you acknowledge today that your children are precious gifts from God?

<strong Parents: We will.

Pastor to congregation: And will you, as their family of faith, bear constant witness to the love and grace of God? Will you pray and teach and love and nurture and encourage? Will you provide care both to these parents and to these children? Will you also help their faith grow? Will you love these children as
if they were your very own?

Congregation: We will.
